Apply for the Crime Solicitor
Location: Camden Town
Job Description:

I have been instructed on an exciting opportunity with a nationally recognised law firm known for its commitment to social justice, human rights, and exceptional criminal defence work.

The firm is now looking to recruit a Crime Solicitor with ideally 2–3 years’ PQE to join its highly regarded crime team. This is a genuinely unique opportunity to work alongside one of the most respected teams in the country whilst also maintaining exposure to a broad range of general crime matters.

Over the last decade, the team has been involved in some of the most high‑profile protest cases in the UK, including landmark Court of Appeal decisions relating to protest sentencing and freedom of expression. They regularly represent activists connected to major protest movements and grassroots campaigns across the country.

The team has also been heavily involved in cases concerning freedom of expression, human rights defences under Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights, and matters involving the increasing use of terrorism legislation in protest‑related cases.

This role would suit someone passionate about criminal defence, advocacy, and protecting the rights of individuals. You will have the opportunity to handle a varied caseload involving both protest‑related and general criminal matters, whilst developing your advocacy experience across the Magistrates’, Crown, and Appellate Courts.

One of the standout aspects of this opportunity is the level of collaboration within the team. Junior solicitors are given genuine hands‑on support and mentorship, regularly working closely alongside highly experienced colleagues on complex and high‑profile matters.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have ideally 2–3 years’ PQE within criminal law
  • Possess strong litigation and advocacy skills
  • Be confident managing a varied caseload independently
  • Demonstrate excellent client care and communication skills
  • Thrive within a fast‑paced and collaborative environment
  • Have a genuine commitment to social justice and criminal defence work

Police Station Accreditation and/or Duty Solicitor status would be advantageous, although this is not essential.

In return, the firm offers an excellent benefits package including:

  • Generous annual leave plus Christmas shutdown and birthday leave
  • Additional paid leave for volunteering, moving house and study
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay
  • Pension scheme with salary sacrifice options
  • Life assurance and income protection
  • Extensive wellbeing and mental health support
  • Employee benefits portal with retail, gym and healthcare discounts
  • Cycle to Work scheme and season ticket loan
  • Subsidised social spaces and regular office perks

This is a rare opportunity to join a market-leading team working at the forefront of protest and human rights‑related criminal law.
