Interim Transformation Director – Merchandise
HW Interim Solutions are working with a retail client to appoint a Transformation Director, on an interim basis, to lead the transformation of a complex, high-profile product category. This area represents a key growth opportunity, with significant operational and commercial upside.
Following a detailed external review, a clear strategy is in place. The requirement now is for a credible operator to deliver it, translating strategy into execution.
This will include:
- Improving range planning, lead times, and overall category performance
- Reviewing and reshaping team structure and ways of working
- Driving margin improvement, including optimisation of own-brand mix
- Strengthening alignment between merchandising and supply chain
The successful candidate will have operated at Director level, with a proven track record of delivering transformation within retail. They will bring a strong merchandising or trading grounding, ideally within fashion or similarly complex categories, and will be comfortable operating both strategically and in the detail. This role requires someone who has implemented change, not just advised.
The assignment is offered initially for 6 months (will likely extend) and will sit outside IR35.
This is a delivery-focused mandate with clear scope and genuine commercial impact.
