As Geotechnical Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Working on the geotechnical team and managing project workloads
  • Identifying geotechnical risks and proposing effective mitigation strategies
  • Delivering concept and detailed design work including foundation design, slope stability and retaining walls.
  • Producing high-quality technical reports including Ground Investigation and Geotechnical Design Reports
  • Mentoring junior staff
  • Supporting colleagues across other offices as part of a wider geotechnical team

To succeed in this Geotechnical Design Engineer role, you should have:

  • Design experience within civil or geotechnical engineering consultancy
  • Have or be working towards chartered status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with geotechnical design software, AutoCAD, and MS Office
  • Experience in rail projects (preferred but not essential)
  • Relevant experience in areas such as slope stability, foundation design, earthworks, soil nails, retaining structures, and pile design
  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering
  • Clean UK driving licence
  • Live in or near to York
