This is an exciting opportunity for a dietitian with previous NHS experience to join our well established, supportive and friendly community dietetic service, based in the seaside town of Scarborough and surrounding area.You will support adult patients with a variety of clinical conditions and be able to access development opportunities such as leadership training and group facilitation skills in diabetes structured education.Recently we have changed the way we work to offer a more virtual and flexible service. With this in mind, we can accommodate people working from home some of the time but most of the role will be face to face with patients/colleagues.

The successful AHP applicant will have access to continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities and professional networks to support ongoing professional development and professional registration requirements

Main duties of the job

The role will have a varied community caseload including malnutrition, enteral tube feeding, diabetes and gastrointestinal conditions. This list isnot exhaustive and many patients have complex needs. We work in a variety of settings such as clinics, patient’s homes and community wards, as well as offering virtual and telephone consultations. We also deliver education to groups of patients and other health professionals.We provide student training to A, B and C student dietitians and work closely with our Humber paediatric, mental health and catering dietetic colleagues, covering services in Malton, Pocklington, Scarborough, Whitby and East Riding to provide our placements.Candidates will require the ability to be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the service.Our team is focused on training, we have great CPD opportunities and clinical supervision to maintain and develop our specialist knowledge and skills.This is a great opportunity for a dietitian to expand their practice and enjoy the varied workload that community working offers.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Knowledge

  • A broad understanding of relevant policy, drivers and their application
  • An understanding of relevant clinical practice/standards within identified clinical area of dietetics
  • A broad general knowledge of clinical dietetics
  • Current professional registration with HCPC
  • Clinical supervisory skills course
  • Teaching qualification or equivalent presentation skills/training experience

Experience

  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) e.g. developing specialist interests
  • Evidence of post-registration NHS experience as a Dietitian
  • Evidence of student supervision
  • Good time management, caseload management and organisational skills
  • Experience of working with those who have complex conditions and may have difficulty communicating verbally
  • Experience of specialist clinical areas of community dietetics such as malnutrition, enteral tube feeding, diabetes or gastrointestinal conditions
  • Evidence of supporting others e.g. peers / associate practitioners / students

Skills and Competencies

  • Effective inter-personal skills
  • Possess UK driving licence and and experience of driving in the UK
  • Ability to effectively commute between various sites where care is delivered
  • Ability to demonstrate ethical values and attitudes within a culture of equality and diversity
