Job Description:

Operations, Quality & Compliance Lead

VEDA Associates is a growing civil and structural engineering consultancy with a strong focus on operational excellence, quality, and governance.

We are looking to appoint an Operations, Quality & Compliance Lead to act as a key support to the Operations Director and as the designated second‑in‑command for day‑to‑day operational matters.

This is a senior step‑up role, ideal for someone with strong operations, compliance, or business support experience who is ready to take on broader responsibility and visibility within a professional consultancy environment.

The Role

You will play a central role in ensuring the smooth, efficient running of the Operations Department, coordinating processes, systems, and information flows across the business.

The role also includes responsibility for maintaining quality and compliance systems (including ISO 9001), supporting audits and accreditations, and ensuring the business remains well‑controlled and audit‑ready.

You will work closely with Directors, delivery teams, and external advisers, acting as a trusted operational lead and escalation point.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Operations Director in the day‑to‑day running of the Operations Department
  • Act as the central coordination point across operations, delivery, finance, and support functions
  • Maintain and administer quality and compliance systems (ISO 9001, accreditations, audits)
  • Manage document control, registers, and operational governance systems
  • Coordinate onboarding, inductions, and HR administration in liaison with external HR consultants
  • Support tender and framework submissions by coordinating compliance and portal documentation
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and support continuous improvement initiatives

Please note: this role includes HR administration and coordination only and does not involve providing HR advice or making HR decisions.

About You

  • Experience in operations, compliance, business administration, or a similar coordination‑heavy role
  • Comfortable acting as a trusted “number two” in an operational environment
  • Highly organised, detail‑focused, and confident working with senior stakeholders
  • Experience in a regulated, professional services, or ISO‑aligned environment is desirable
  • Looking to step up into a broader operational leadership role, rather than move laterally
