About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and experienced Senior Quality Engineer to join our growing team in Barrow-in-Furness, supporting key projects across the nuclear and defence sectors on a long term contract.
This is a pivotal role where you’ll be responsible for maintaining and improving the Quality Management System (QMS) within a project environment, while working closely with Workstream Quality Leads and Construction Teams to ensure the highest standards of compliance and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Support and maintain the project Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO 9001:2015Work closely with Construction Teams to ensure production and compliance of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)Compile Lifetime Quality Records concurrently with project deliveryProvide guidance and support to suppliers on client quality requirementsManage Supply Chain Quality, including:Pre-qualification assessmentsSupplier audits and performance monitoringVendor evaluations and approvalsLead and contribute to internal, supplier, and third-party auditsManage Non-Conformances, Defects, and Project Improvement Notices, ensuring effective resolutionDrive continuous improvement initiatives across projectsLiaise with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders to resolve quality issues
Essential Experience & Qualifications
Minimum 5years’ experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Engineering within:Construction / M&E / Welding / Fabrication environmentsExperience working in Nuclear and/or Defence sectorsISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor (Lead Auditor )Proven experience conducting:Internal auditsSupplier auditsExternal/third-party auditsStrong experience developing:Quality Management Plans (QMPs)Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)Quality procedures and work instructions
