Elevation Recruitment Group are proud to be partnering with a large specialist manufacturing business based in Sheffield. Our client is seeking an experienced, hands-on Production Manager to lead their shop-floor operations, overseeing the entire process of manufacturing specialist products, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring high standards for quality, safety, and delivery.
Duties of the role:
- Oversee day-to-day production activities, managing a large team of Production Supervisors and skilled Operatives.
- Plan and schedule production to ensure orders are delivered on time and in full (OTIF)
- Champion Lean / CI initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and drive cost savings
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality, and environmental standards
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Planning, and Supply Chain to resolve production bottlenecks – root cause analysis
- Monitor KPIs and generate performance reports to senior leadership
- Develop and coach the production team to build capability and ownership
Experienced required:
- Proven production management experience in a large, fast paced manufacturing environment (machining style manufacturing preferred)
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing / CI methodologies (Kaizen, 5S, root cause analysis) – Lean Six Sigma qualifications preferred
- Excellent leadership and people management skills — you can motivate and develop a team
- Strong planning, organisational, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience of working with production planning systems (ERP / MRP) and Microsoft Office
- A solid commitment to health and safety standards, ideally with qualifications (IOSH / NEBOSH)
