Senior Quantity Surveyor

Salary: £70,000 – £100,000

Our client, a highly regarded and expanding construction business, is seeking a proactive Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong civil engineering background. Following a series of contract awards and strategic acquisitions, the company continues to grow and now requires an experienced SQS to support its increasing project portfolio.

The Role

You will take commercial responsibility for multiple projects, overseeing them from contract award through to final account. This is a key position requiring both strategic oversight and hands-on delivery across a range of civil engineering schemes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate contract terms and manage commercial risk in line with project scope and agreed schedules.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, suppliers, colleagues, and key stakeholders.
  • Monitor project performance and address any issues to ensure contractual compliance.
  • Work closely with Contracts Managers and Site Teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Manage and document variations, change control, and project updates accurately.
  • Prepare and submit timely payment applications and carry out cost value reconciliation.
  • Support estimating and tendering functions to ensure accurate pricing and commercially viable bids.
  • Provide commercial input into bid preparation and tender analysis.
  • Produce accurate financial forecasts across projects under your control.
  • Attend site visits for valuations, progress reviews, and commercial meetings as required.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Quantity Surveying role, ideally at Senior level.
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering projects and commercial practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess costs, quantities, and variations accurately.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Capable of working independently as well as part of a collaborative team environment.
