Specialist Occupational Therapist/Physiotherapist (Hands & Plastics)
We are looking for an enthusiastic new member to join our Hand Therapy team at this regional Hands and Plastics Unit. You would be joining a supportive team with plenty of learning opportunities and support, some previous experience in hand therapy is ideally required.
This post involves the assessment, diagnosis and formulation of hand therapy treatment to both inpatients and outpatients, referred from Consultants & GP’s, in order to maximise patient recovery and function.
The Hand Therapy team consists of 10 WTE generic OT and PT staff. We are a friendly and dynamic team who will welcome a new member.

Main Duties of the Role
As an experienced and enthusiastic Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist, you will specialise in Hand Therapy and gain permanent employment with us.
The role provides training and support to build or gain hand‑therapy skills and knowledge, alongside the opportunity to build on supervision, audit and service development skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose and plan hand‑therapy treatment for both inpatients and outpatients referred from Consultants & GP’s.
- Deliver hand‑therapy treatments to maximise patient recovery and function.
- Provide training and clinical education to staff and students.
- Support service development projects and audit of hand‑therapy services.
- Collaborate with a multi‑disciplinary team to deliver high‑quality patient care.
Qualifications
- Masters level degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy or equivalent experience.
- Evidence of relevant postgraduate education and training.
- HCPC Registration.
- Level 1 or 2 BAHT Course, working towards Accredited Hand Therapist status.
Experience
- Postgraduate clinical experience in a relevant field.
- Experience delivering clinical education and supervision to staff and students.
- Experience working as part of a therapy and/or multi‑disciplinary team.
Knowledge
- Specialised knowledge and experience of hand assessment, evaluation and treatment techniques in a client‑centred approach.
- Specialised knowledge of relevant hand treatment modalities.
