Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurse to join the Radiology team within the Day Intervention Unit (DIU) at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. This role offers an opportunity to develop specialist skills within a highly supportive and innovative multidisciplinary team delivering a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic interventional radiology procedures. The successful candidate will work closely with consultant radiologists, radiographers, nursing staff and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide safe, effective and high‑quality patient‑centred care.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care throughout the patient pathway including admission, preparation, monitoring during procedures, recovery and discharge.
  • Assist during procedures as a scrub or circulating nurse, monitor sedated patients and maintain patient safety within radiation‑controlled areas.
  • Collaborate with consultant radiologists, radiographers, nursing staff and multidisciplinary colleagues to deliver safe, effective, high‑quality care.
  • Cater to day‑case and inpatient populations within a fast‑paced acute environment.
  • Work effectively under pressure, prioritise workload and respond to changing clinical situations.
  • Tolerate prolonged standing while wearing lead protective equipment in fluoroscopy environments.
  • Apply clinical judgement and excellent communication and teamwork skills to ensure high standards of patient care and safety.

Qualifications

  • Current NMC First Level Registered Nurse registration.
  • Relevant post‑registration experience in an acute clinical setting.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and respond effectively to changing clinical situations.
  • Commitment to continuing professional development and evidence‑based practice.
  • Interest in developing specialist skills within interventional radiology.
