Job title: Membership Officer

Salary: £44,358 per annum (London based) or £39,587 per annum (non‑London) + excellent benefits.

Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week.

Location: Office (with home working) or remote.

Contract type: Permanent.

Job Description

The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) is a professional body for speech and language therapists across the UK, with over 24,000 members and approximately 70 staff members. The RCSLT coordinates high‑volume operational processes that directly impact the member experience.

The Membership Officer supports the entire member lifecycle by processing applications, payments, renewals and maintaining data quality. The officer works with Finance, Digital and Member Support teams to ensure smooth operations, effective communication and high standards of member service.

Responsibilities

  • Process membership applications, payments, renewals and data accurately and timely.
  • Resolve routine and moderately complex membership or payment queries.
  • Support reconciliation work with Finance.
  • Assist with the operational delivery of the annual renewals cycle.
  • Investigate non‑routine issues, identify recurring trends or data anomalies, and recommend process or system enhancements.
  • Support reporting and operational planning through the production and analysis of regular and ad‑hoc reports.

Qualifications

  • Experience in membership or customer administration within a high‑volume processing environment.
  • Working knowledge of CRM systems such as Salesforce and direct debit processes, and online payment systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload while meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Experience handling member enquiries, maintaining accurate data records, and resolving routine and moderately complex issues.
  • Understanding of data‑protection requirements and common membership‑related queries.
  • Proactive, calm and solutions‑focused with the ability to investigate issues, interpret information and apply appropriate resolutions within established guidelines.
  • Willingness to work collaboratively across teams and contribute to continuous service improvement.
