RAISE Rochdale Pupil Referral Service is looking to appoint a proactive and organised Attendance Officer to lead on monitoring, improving, and promoting student attendance.

This is a vital role within our provision, supporting some of Rochdale’s most vulnerable young people to re‑engage with education. You will play a key part in identifying barriers to attendance and working closely with families, staff, and external agencies to improve outcomes, under the supervision of SLT.

Raise Rochdale PRS is currently based over three sites; candidates will be required to work flexibly to meet the requirements of the role. Transport is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor, track, and analyse student attendance and punctuality
  • Maintain accurate attendance records in line with statutory requirements
  • Follow up on absences promptly, including first day calling procedures
  • Work directly with pupils and families to improve attendance
  • Carry out home visits where appropriate and necessary
  • Develop and implement strategies to address persistent absence
  • Produce regular attendance reports for leadership
  • Liaise with external agencies, including the Local Authority and safeguarding teams
  • Support safeguarding processes, ensuring student welfare is prioritised
  • Promote a culture of high attendance and punctuality across the service

What We’re Looking For

  • Has experience in an administrative or attendance‑related role, ideally within education
  • Has strong organisational and IT skills (e.g. SIMS or similar systems)
  • Is confident communicating with parents/carers and external professionals
  • Can build positive relationships with vulnerable young people
  • Has a good understanding of safeguarding and attendance legislation
  • Is able to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Is resilient, empathetic, and solution‑focused
  • Is able to converse at ease with customers and service users and provide advice in accurate spoken English
  • Is able to provide proof of Right to Work in the UK if invited to interview
  • Appointment to this post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring and background check
