This is a strategic position within the SCRER Department a nd one that carries authority across departments and can negotiate on behalf of the Council. The post holder will play a significant role in delivering the Council’s statutory duties under NRSWA and Traffic Management Act regulations within an area of 87km² that extends from Upper Norwood in the north to Old Coulsdon in the south which is supported by a road network of 726km.
The London Borough of Croydon’s Network Management Team is looking for a highly motivated and organised individual to join its Street Works Permit Team.As a member of the team you will be required to assist us in fulfilling our responsibilities under the New Roads and Street Works Act and the Traffic Management Act and in doing so ensure that we maximise the benefits of operating a permit scheme.The duties will primarily include assessing and approving or refusing permit and licence applications to carry out works and issuing fixed penalty notices for non compliant notifications and breaches of permit conditions.The team is also responsible for the maintenance of the Council’s Street Gazetteer and you may be required to assist with its maintenance and carry out other duties such as raising invoices.
In carrying out the duties of this post you will be required to use Streetmanager / excel / word along with other applications as and when needed.Ideally you should have a thorough knowledge of the legislation surrounding street works.
The position is based in Bernard Weatherill House which is close to East Croydon Station. Currently the job is 2 days a week in the office and 3 days WFH but initial attendance at the office more than the 2 days is ideal to get to know the team / processes.
