Cobalt are excited to be partnering exclusively with a growing property development business. As an ambitious SME, They’re entering a new stage of growth and require a strategic and commercially minded Finance Director to drive financial performance, oversee operations, and help shape the long-term direction of the business.
The Role:
This is a senior leadership position, working closely with the CEO and Board. The Finance Director will be responsible for managing the financial strategy, operational efficiency, and governance of the business, while ensuring scalability as we expand our development pipeline.
Key responsibilities include:
- Financial Strategy & Management: Oversee financial planning, reporting, budgeting, and cash flow to ensure sustainable growth.
- Operational Leadership: Streamline processes, systems, and procedures to improve efficiency and delivery across the business.
- Risk & Compliance: Manage risk, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance, ensuring strong controls and transparency.
- Commercial Insight: Provide strategic input on investments, joint ventures, and funding opportunities to support new projects.
- Team Leadership: Build and develop a small but high-performing finance and operations team.
- Board Engagement: Act as a trusted advisor, presenting clear financial and operational insights to support decision-making.
The Person:
We are looking for a dynamic, hands-on finance professional with the commercial acumen and leadership skills to thrive in an entrepreneurial SME environment.
Essential skills & experience:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, CA or CPA)
- Ideally trained in a top 6 practice.
- Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role, ideally in property development, real estate, or a related sector.
- Strong understanding of debt financing, investment structures, and development funding.
- Track record of improving operational performance in an SME setting.
- Excellent communicator with the ability to influence at board level.
- Resilient, pragmatic, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
