Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Systems Engineer to join our team, specializing in weapon system design within the defence sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hazard analysis for naval-related systems, safety requirements, and safety case writing. This role involves ensuring the safety and reliability of weapon systems through comprehensive analysis and structured methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hazard Analysis: Conduct thorough hazard analysis for naval-related systems to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Safety Requirements: Develop and write detailed safety requirements to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Safety Case Writing: Prepare and manage safety cases, including the collection and organization of evidence to support safety claims.
- Safety Arguments: Develop and present safety arguments using Goal Structuring Notation (GSN) to demonstrate the safety of weapon systems.
- Functional Failure Analysis: Perform functional failure analysis to identify potential failure modes and their impacts on system performance.
- Fault Tree Analysis: Conduct fault tree analysis to systematically identify and evaluate potential causes of system failures.
- Failure Modes, Effects, and Causes Analysis (FMECA): Perform FMECA to assess the reliability and safety of weapon systems.
- Structured What-If Analysis: Utilize structured what-if analysis to explore potential scenarios and their implications on system safety.
- HAZOPs: Conduct Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPs) to identify and address potential hazards in weapon system design.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Proven experience in systems engineering, particularly in weapon system design within the defence sector.
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proficiency in hazard analysis techniques, and excellent communication abilities.
- Security Clearance: Must be SC Cleared and a British National.
