Role Overview

We are looking to recruit an Environmental Advisor to support a wide range of projects in delivering Kier’s Sustainability Framework and maintaining environmental compliance. The role will support live projects as well as our pre‑construction team with bids and identify applied best practice.

Responsibilities

  • Support with tenders to ensure relevant environmental mitigation is incorporated into projects as well as sustainability innovations
  • Assist sites in pre‑construction to ensure all required documentation is in place to ensure legal and system compliance.
  • Conduct environmental inspections and support environmental audits using Kier’s Novade platform.
  • Review environmental incidents and develop learning outcomes.
  • Collate and prepare wider sustainability information to report progress against agreed objectives and targets.
  • Support with our Environmental reporting system RIO with ensuring the data is accurate.
  • Feedback any case study/best practice to the wider team including bid teams to support tender responses.
  • Chair meetings within the business made up of operational staff to drive the sustainability agenda.
  • Supporting with the delivery of our Building for a Sustainable World Sustainability Strategy to ensure data is captured, analysed and communicated.
  • Passion for sustainability and a drive to reduce carbon emissions and improve resource efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Preferably a degree in an environmental or scientific discipline.
  • Have experience working in an Environmental or similar role.
  • Knowledge of construction sustainability schemes such as BREEAM / LEED / WELL.
  • Experience setting, measuring, monitoring and communicating environmental KPIs.Experience developing documents, procedures and forms that are consistent with the requirements of ISO 14001.
  • Internal ISO 14001 auditor experience would be advantageous.
  • A thorough understanding of environmental concepts, such as the source, pathway, receptor model, waste hierarchy and the identification of significant aspects and impacts.
  • Working knowledge of environmental management systems.
  • UK Driving licence.
  • Hold Security Clearance (BPSS and SC) or able to apply for it.
  • Willingness to travel to sites regularly.
  • Disability Confident.
