Position

Exhibitions Officer (known internally as the Exhibitions and Interpretation Officer) will deliver an audience‑focused, exciting public programme of exhibitions and events across the Heritage Service, primarily at Lincoln Museum and Usher Art Gallery, but also at Lincoln Castle, the Museum of Lincolnshire Life and the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre, to assist in driving visitor volume and deepening engagement with our venues and collections.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Exhibitions and Interpretation team to deliver a varied and challenging programme of engaging exhibitions, including summer blockbuster exhibitions.
  • Assist the Exhibitions and Interpretation Manager in delivering against service and team objectives.
  • Coordinate delivery of exhibitions with regional and national lenders and stakeholders.
  • Oversee the Arts Council England (ACE) National Portfolio Organisations (NPO) programme and develop applications for future exhibition funding.
  • Support the development, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of the programme.
  • Create complementary events and activities that overlay the exhibition programme.
  • Produce marketing content across social media platforms and the organisation’s website, and liaise with external funders to leverage financial grants through their application processes.

Qualifications

  • Flair for coordination with excellent planning and organisational skills, and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Talent for creativity, an eye for detail, and experience working within the cultural sector.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for dealing with the public, community engagement, colleagues at all levels, external stakeholders, and volunteers.
  • Understanding and experience with social media marketing and website management.
  • Knowledge of external funders and experience with financial grants application processes.
  • Manual handling and working at height experience required for installation and de‑installation of exhibitions.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft IT software packages is desirable.
  • Fluency in English, ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English.

Working Conditions and Hours

This is a 37‑hour post with a normal five‑day week (Monday to Friday). Flexibility is expected, and weekend and evening working may be required.
