Location: Cross-site role (Cheltenham & Gloucester)

Contract Type: Temporary, 3 months, with potential extension or permanent appointment

Hours: Full-time

Daily Rate: £240 Umbrella

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive and experienced Health and Safety Compliance Officer to support the delivery of safe, compliant, and effective working environments across a complex and operational healthcare estate. This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced NHS environment, supporting Estates, Facilities, Capital Projects, and operational services across multiple hospital sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide practical Health & Safety advice and guidance across operational services
  • Monitor compliance with Health & Safety standards and statutory requirements
  • Undertake audits, inspections, and risk assessments
  • Support contractor management and permit-to-work processes
  • Assist with COSHH and asbestos management arrangements
  • Maintain compliance systems, records, and governance documentation
  • Support incident investigations and implementation of corrective actions
  • Deliver toolbox talks, training sessions, and safety briefings
  • Contribute to KPI monitoring and compliance reporting

About You

  • NEBOSH, IOSH-accredited, or equivalent Health & Safety qualification, or demonstrable relevant experience
  • Diploma / NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent experience) in Health & Safety, Facilities Management, Engineering, or similar
  • Experience supporting Health & Safety compliance in a large or complex organisation
  • Strong experience carrying out audits and risk assessments
  • Good understanding of COSHH requirements and wider Health & Safety legislation

Desirable

  • Experience in healthcare or other high-risk, occupied environments
  • Specialist qualifications (e.g. asbestos, confined spaces)
  • Degree-level qualification
  • Experience influencing behavioural safety and organisational change
