As Facilities Engineering Process Capability Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and strengthening the facilities engineering capability at HMNB Devonport. You will help ensure our engineering organisation has the right processes, governance and capability to support complex ship and submarine sustainment programmes. Your day‑to‑day work will involve measuring, managing and continuously improving facilities engineering processes, supporting the Design Authority and wider engineering teams to maintain design intent across critical infrastructure.
- Lead the measurement, management and continuous improvement of facilities engineering processes.
- Review and update technical and design processes to maintain effective governance.
- Facilitate process working groups and lead the process steering forum.
- Assess process capability health, identify risks, inefficiencies and improvement actions.
- Support internal and external audits, including ISO9001 compliance activities.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with a minimum of 3 days in the office/onsite.
Essential Experience
- Experience working in or closely supporting a facilities engineering environment.
- Proven understanding of engineering processes, including staged design or technical management frameworks.
- Experience analysing processes, identifying vulnerabilities and delivering improvement initiatives.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and diverse stakeholder groups, including international partners.
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to influence and guide engineering best practice.
Qualifications
- Degree‑level qualification in a STEM discipline, or a completed engineering apprenticeship with relevant experience.
- Incorporated Engineer registration or a clear pathway toward professional registration – Desirable.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) / Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance for this role.
