Breast Advanced Practitioner – Image Reader (Trainee considered)
This role is an opportunity to join a forward-thinking breast imaging team, looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, Band 7 female* enhanced practitioner (Image Reader)/ mammographer (Trainee will be considered).
Travel is required to all the mobile units and static sites.
Main duties of the job
The Breast Screening service is located at Russells Hall Hospital, with assessment centres at New Cross Hospital and Cannock Chase Hospital, and includes 3 static screening sites and 3 mobile units.
This role will cover all duties expected of a Band 7 Advanced Practitioner (Image Reader)/ Mammographer. Candidates should have current experience in mammography and be qualified as a HCPC Registered Radiographer, hold a Certificate of Competence in Mammography, and a recognised SCoR qualification to read images or be prepared to undertake training.
Qualifications and Education
- DCR/BSc in Diagnostic Radiography
- Certificate of Competence in Mammography
- Registered with HCPC
- Evidence of CPD and reflective practice
- Educated to Master’s level or equivalent, or working towards it
- Counselling qualification (optional)
Experience
- Previous experience of NHS Breast Screening Programme
- Advanced knowledge of mammography
- Previous experience of mentoring/teaching
- Experience in QA programmes
- Previous experience of Health Promotion
- Postgraduate experience in specialism
Communication and Relationship Skills
- Excellent communication, able to convey complex/distressing news sensitively
- Commitment to teamwork and attainment of NHS BSP quality standards
- Ability to work within and supervise a team
- Good communication within the wider MDT
Analytical and Organisational Skills
- Able to make decisions

Remuneration
£49,387 to £56,515 per annum pro rota (Annex 21 whilst training).
