About the role
At Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering, we are delivering some of the UK’s most complex and technically challenging infrastructure projects. As part of a business that underpins major developments across transportation, energy and the built environment, this is an opportunity to play a key role in ensuring quality is embedded at every stage of delivery.
We are now looking for a Senior Quality Advisor / Engineer to support project teams in delivering works in line with customer, regulatory and business requirements. This role is central to driving assurance, compliance and continuous improvement across the full project lifecycle, ensuring that everything we deliver meets the highest standards and is right first time.
This is a hands‑on and influential role where you will work closely with delivery teams, supply chain partners and stakeholders to coordinate assurance activities, implement quality processes and resolve issues as they arise.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will support and coordinate project teams to ensure quality plans, inspection and test plans are in place, understood and consistently followed across all stages of delivery. You will provide guidance and coaching to both internal teams and the supply chain, helping them meet required standards and deliverables while addressing any quality‑related challenges.
You will take responsibility for implementing and maintaining assurance systems, using digital tools to monitor performance, manage quality outputs and track issues against agreed targets. A key part of your role will involve ensuring that customer requirements are clearly understood and that robust quality control mechanisms are embedded to provide confidence in delivery.
You will also play a critical role in audit and compliance activities, supporting the delivery of audit programmes, undertaking supplier audits and ensuring that findings, observations and non‑conformities are managed through to closure. Alongside this, you will coordinate the preparation of handover documentation, quality reporting and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the project.
Working collaboratively with stakeholders, you will help develop and implement quality strategies, support training and knowledge sharing, and contribute to building a strong quality culture across the project environment.
Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone with a strong understanding of quality management within a construction, engineering or manufacturing environment, with experience supporting or leading assurance and compliance activities on complex projects. You will ideally hold a Level 4 or higher qualification in a relevant discipline and be working towards Chartered status with the Chartered Quality Institute.
You will bring a proactive and analytical approach, with the ability to gather and interpret information, challenge existing practices and drive improvements. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will be working across multidisciplinary teams and engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.
Experience in audit processes, including accreditation audits, is important, along with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to programme requirements. You should be confident using modern digital systems and tools, including Office 365, and ideally have experience with digital assurance platforms.
A background in major projects and knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standards or lead auditor training would be advantageous, as would experience within construction or asset management environments.
