Salary: £50,000 – £60,000
Summary
An excellent opportunity has become available for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a growing building services consultancy delivering projects across multiple sectors. This role offers the chance to take full ownership of mechanical design projects, manage client relationships, and play a key role in delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions. You’ll also support junior team members and contribute to a collaborative, multi-disciplinary design environment.
The Role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading mechanical design across a range of projects, from initial concept through to completion. You’ll act as a key point of contact for clients, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage mechanical design projects from planning through to completion
- Represent the business at client and design team meetings
- Develop project briefs and project-specific design criteria
- Manage tender processes and contribute to cost planning and budget control
- Produce high-quality technical drawings, specifications, and performance calculations
- Coordinate mechanical services with wider building services and design teams
- Act as a client interface and project lead on selected schemes
- Support sustainability initiatives and collaborate with the sustainability team
- Assist and support the CAD team where required
- Review contractor design proposals and monitor performance
- Undertake site visits, surveys, and monitor project progress
- Maintain strong client relationships and support business development activities
- Support and mentor junior engineers within the team
- Engage in Continued Professional Development (CPD)
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in mechanical design within a building services consultancy environment
- Strong understanding of UK building regulations and industry standards
- Experience managing projects and working directly with clients
- Ability to produce and review technical drawings and specifications
- Strong coordination skills across multi-disciplinary teams
- Commercial awareness with experience in budgets, tenders, and cost control
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
