An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Oncology, Rare Diseases and Liver and Digestive Health operational management team within the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Service Manager to oversee the day‑to‑day management and operational delivery of a range of clinical services including Infectious Diseases, HIV, Chronic Fatigue, OPAT, NLVAS, Microbiology & Virology. This role will support high‑quality patient care, service development, performance management and effective use of resources across the respective specialties.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage administrative and support teams within the service/directorate.
- Deliver appraisal and mandatory training requirements for all staff within these teams.
- Implement the directorate performance management systems ensuring that Trust and monitor standards are understood and adhered to and that performance reports are produced to enable service performance compliance.
- Support the governance arrangements within the service/directorate including audit, complaints, incidents, risk and health and safety.
- Be responsible to the assistant general manager for financial performance relating to delegated budgets and operational performance of the service/directorate.

Person Specification
- Demonstrable ability to meet the Trust Values.
- Postgraduate degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Evidence of continuing personal development.
- Demonstrable experience of working in healthcare in a junior management position.
- Experience of staff management and leading a team.
- Project management experience.
- Budget management experience including monitoring expenditure and identifying savings.
- Introducing new ways of working.
- Experience and familiarity with business planning and preparation of business cases.
- Understanding of national NHS policy and targets.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, including oral and written skills, including chairing team meetings, writing reports.
- Competent in the use of Microsoft office; Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Skilled in using an EPR system.
- Strong numeracy skills with good analytical skills and ability to understand and produce information to use in problem solving.
- Ability to negotiate with and influence staff at more junior and senior levels.
- Ability to manage own time/priorities with minimal supervision.
- Well organised and practical with a logical, analytical approach to work.
- Pays careful attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
