Resident Doctor in Oncology (Foundation Level Training or Above)
Location: Cromwell Hospital, London, SW5 0TU
Salary: £85,000 a year – full time equivalent
Shift Pattern: 12‑hour shift starting at 09:00 and finishing at 21:00 the same day or starting at 21:00 and finishing at 09:00 the next day. 2–3 shifts per week.
Job Overview
Cromwell Hospital is home to world‑renowned private oncologists. The post holder works with specialist nurses, technicians and private oncologists as part of a multidisciplinary team approach to patient care. The role requires good knowledge of medical emergencies and the ability to recognise and escalated complications following Systemic Anti‑Cancer Therapy, with a low threshold for escalation to the oncology consultant.
Responsibilities
- Conduct a daily ward round in collaboration with the nurse in charge for all patients not yet seen by a consultant.
- Complete any tasks requested by the consultant.
- Act as the first point of contact for consultants and nursing staff caring for oncology patients.
- Clerk patients admitted under an oncologist.
- Collate closely with other resident medical officers (cardiology/medicine, surgery, and ITU) and request assistance when necessary.
- Effectively hand over with resident doctors at the end of shift, especially concerning patients with care concerns.

Qualifications
- Degree in Medicine (MBBS or equivalent).
- Full Registration with GMC.
- Trained in medicine to Foundation level or above.
- Up to date ALS certificate.
- Experience of oncology in the independent sector or NHS services.
Desirable
- Database literacy with knowledge of statistics.
- Evidence of research publications, awards, or poster presentations.
- Full MRCP qualification.
