£428.85 PAYE / £550 Umbrella per day.

Essex County Council (ECC) are delighted to be supporting Castle Point Borough Council to recruit a Public Initiatives Project Manager on a full-time, temporary basis.
Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will be required to work on-site 3 days per week.

The Opportunity
To support the Assistant Director Environment and working with the Environment Team on a number of projects related to the Council’s £2.5 million Public Initiatives Fund, these projects will include rejuvenation and improvements to the Council’s playgrounds, parks & open spaces.
Role Responsibilities
- Initiate and produce procurement documents for projects, ensuring timely completion and budget compliance while adhering to environmental regulations and promoting sustainable practices. Manage programme and project timelines, budgets, and resources, and collaborate with stakeholders to meet governance requirements.
- Plan and schedule projects, identifying dependencies and potential risks, and report these to senior management and through internal governance.
- Ensure that projects within parks and open spaces minimise anti‑social behaviour and provide safe spaces.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate potential project risks, including environmental risks.
- Collate and maintain accurate records and reports on project progress, financial data, environmental compliance, and waste reduction efforts.
- Work with the council communications team to promote the various projects.
Accountabilities
- Establish separate programmes for each project.
- Assist with the production of specifications for each project.
- Liaise with the Council’s procurement leads.
- Arrange meetings with stakeholders.
- Identify and mitigate risks for each project.
- Ensure each project drives down anti‑social behaviour and creates safe spaces, particularly in parks & open spaces.
The Experience You Will Bring
- Project management experience, particularly related to rejuvenation of parks and open spaces.
- Strong communication skills.
- Knowledge of rejuvenating parks & open spaces.
- Experience working in parks & open spaces.
- Experience in play space procurement, developing open spaces, and data management / building.
- Desirable: experience in lake management.
