Job Description

The RF Power Project Engineering group are responsible for delivering complex, high‑reliability RF power products, which starts with understanding customer requirements, all the way through to design proving, transitioning into volume production, and then maintaining ongoing customer support.

As a High‑voltage electronics engineer, your role will be focussed on supporting the product lifecycle of high reliability high voltage (>5kV) systems. You will be working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams as you work to propose and evaluate designs, execute test and validation plans, and ensure reliability through robust process control.

A minimum of 10 years’ proven experience in product development and power electronic system design is essential.

This role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging, high‑reliability high‑voltage systems within a collaborative engineering environment, contributing to products from concept through to volume production and ongoing product support.

General Accountabilities

Development: Design circuits and sub‑systems to meet customer requirements, ensuring reliable, manufacturable products that meet cost targets. Verify designs through simulation, practical testing, and environmental validation. Ensure compliance with regulatory, legislative, environmental, and safety standards. Identify and assess IPR/patent opportunities and support claim generation.

New Product Introduction (NPI): Ensure designs meet DFM and DFA criteria. Manage required activities through the relevant phase deliverable gate of the NPI process, working with Operations group.

Production Support: Provide technical support throughout the production process. Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain teams to resolve technical issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. Maintain and update standard operating procedures to address product quality and supply chain challenges.

Fault Finding: Provide timely and technically robust resolution of issues across development, production, and in‑service environments. Perform component‑level fault analysis to identify and resolve performance and production issues. Document faults in customer‑owned products and implement corrective improvements. Support changes to product build standards driven by continuous improvement, obsolescence, or regulatory requirements.

Market Knowledge: Regular review of the product market and technology advances to identify opportunities to develop new products and/or upgrades. Work with the business leadership to develop these into future development as appropriate.

Leadership: Provide technical leadership within projects, mentoring junior engineers and influencing design decisions across multidisciplinary teams.

Skills And Experience

  • Switch‑Mode power supply design.
  • PCB design.
  • High‑frequency digital and analogue circuits, ideally in MIL‑SPEC applications.
  • High voltage and high‑power experience desirable – 3 to 10kV, 500W to 2kW.
  • PCB layout tools and manufacturing techniques, or similar for schematic capture.
  • Knowledge of electrical and RF test techniques.
  • Analysis of design failure mechanisms (DFMEA/FMEA).
  • ERP/SAP systems experience.
  • Understanding of electrical safety, safe working practices and risk assessments, and mitigation activities.

Qualifications
