About this role
We are looking for an experienced leader to manage a team of over 100 technologists and drive successful software delivery across complex, regulated environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 100+ software engineers and architects, operating at scale within a regulated environment
- Partner with product, design and business leaders to shape the product roadmap and deliver key business capabilities
- Elevate talent, set clear development agendas, and manage performance to grow high‑performing teams
- Drive effective delivery with pace and precision across diverse outcome teams
- Collaborate with enterprise stakeholders, primarily in the US, to assess trade‑offs and recommend solutions
- Oversee a mix of associates and third‑party engineers and ensure effective oversight of contractors
- Stay current with regulatory changes, enterprise processes, emerging technologies, and engineering practices
- Lead technical design reviews, promoting consistent engineering practices
- Support the career growth and development of the team
- Provide clear thinking and direction to eliminate ambiguity and guide strategic initiatives
Qualifications
- Proven track record of leading large software engineering teams and driving high performance
- Experience solving complex people, process and technology challenges with intellectual curiosity and comfort with ambiguity
- Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills; ability to recommend technology options and trade‑offs
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
- Experience recruiting and developing high‑quality engineering talent
- Deep knowledge of AWS and real‑world cloud engineering practices
- Understanding of cybersecurity trends and their impact on engineering
- Ability to work within enterprise policies and adapt to UK regulations while balancing business needs
- Knowledge of UK/US regulatory, consumer lending and technology landscapes (preferred)
Work environment
- Permanent position based in London office with a hybrid working model: 3 days in office (Tues‑Thu) and option to work from home
