Role Overview

The Senior Programme Manager will plan and pro‑actively manage the execution of the F‑35 programme, with full accountability for profit and loss, budgeting, and customer satisfaction. The role includes managing the entire product lifecycle, serving as the senior customer interface, guiding negotiations and dispute resolution, and providing the Voice of the Customer to Ultra PCS.

The Manager will collaborate with project managers, the BD team, and engineering to deliver new developments and shape product and technology strategy in alignment with customer needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive accountability by defining roles and responsibilities for all members of the extended team.
  • Generate and agree on KPIs and SLAs for each function.
  • Execute the delivery plan relentlessly and quickly escalate risks and issues to prevent them becoming constraints.
  • Work across sites and functions to ensure the order‑book can be achieved and the business is right‑sized, including supply‑chain capacity.
  • Define and agree roles and responsibilities across wider, cross‑functional teams; set target metrics and KPIs that achieve success at the programme level.
  • Use agreed metrics/KPIs to drive proactive decision‑making.
  • Define and implement governance for programmes across stakeholders.
  • Prioritise goals and objectives.
  • Maintain the overall delivery programme plan, monitor progress through agreed KPIs, and hold the cross‑functional team accountable.
  • Manage risks, issues, and corrective actions.
  • Co‑ordinate and manage interdependencies.
  • Ensure adequate resourcing of the programme.
  • Manage stakeholder communication.
  • Maintain positive customer relationships.
  • Manage the main programme documentation.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (desirable).
  • Proficient team leader who instils trust and demonstrates customer‑focused behaviour.
  • Strong experience in operational projects and operations management.
  • Excellent people‑management skills, including developing high‑performing teams and resolving issues.
  • Knowledge of project and programme management methodology and techniques.
  • Understanding of the wider objectives of the programme.
  • Ability to work positively with a wide range of individuals involved in programme management.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures, with an ability to consider business finance constraints and windows of opportunity.
  • Strong risk‑management capability at the programme level.
  • Ability to find innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Highly analytical, making evidence‑based decisions.
  • Commercial understanding and experience of contract management.
  • Strong understanding of governance best‑practice.
