6-month contract role with a local authority
Summary
This is a 6-month contract role with a local authority, focused on providing professional leadership and assurance in managing building safety across Lambeth Council’s higher-risk residential buildings (HRBs). The role is crucial for ensuring full compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Act 2021, and Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. The successful candidate will lead the development and management of Building Safety Cases and Building Safety Case Reports.
Responsibilities
- Lead the operational management of building safety across designated HRBs within the housing portfolio.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, including:
- Building Safety Act 2022
- Fire Safety Act 2021
- Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
- Relevant evacuation and fire safety regulations
- Develop, maintain, and review Building Safety Cases and Building Safety Case Reports, ensuring robust documentation and evidence of risk control measures.
- Coordinate and undertake inspections, audits, and risk assessments relating to fire, structural, and building safety.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate building safety risks in collaboration with internal teams and senior stakeholders.
Essential Experience Required
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in building safety, fire safety, housing compliance, or a related field.
- Proven experience developing and managing Building Safety Case Reports.
- Experience coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and driving continuous safety improvements.
Essential Qualifications Required
- Membership or eligibility for:
- Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)
- Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)
- Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE)
- Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM)
- Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
- Or equivalent professional bodies
Additional Information
- Working hours: 35 hours per week.
- Interviews will be conducted at Brixton Civic Centre, 6 Brixton Hill, London, Lambeth, SW2 1RW, United Kingdom.
- Work pattern: 2 days in the office, with a bi-weekly schedule.
