Are you highly organised, detail-driven, and passionate about supporting surgical teams to deliver exceptional patient care? Join us as a Department Implant/Instrument Coordinator and play a key role in the smooth running of our theatres at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

In this dynamic role, you’ll be the go‑to expert for managing implants and instruments across elective, emergency and trauma surgery. You’ll ensure everything is in place for successful operations—tracking stock, maintaining sterility, and liaising with suppliers and internal teams to keep things moving efficiently. Your work will directly impact patient safety and the quality of care we provide.

Responsibilities

  • The post holder will be responsible for using their clinical knowledge to streamline, organise, monitor and order implants and stock for elective, emergency and trauma surgery.
  • Monitor and assist with any stock issues around instruments within the department.
  • Assist with stock control and provide audit reports on stock as requested.
  • Liaise with management, procurement and finance teams with required audit information.
  • Ensure all stock and loan kit is stored and handled correctly and that strict sterility is maintained.
  • Assist theatre teams by monitoring processes to ensure all implants received and processed and that strict inventory of invoices and receipts are maintained to ensure accurate accounting.
  • Provide monthly feedback to finance when implants have been used.
  • Support the productive operation of the theatre lists by liaising with procurement to ensure stock levels reflect demand and any shortfalls are escalated and communicated across the department.
  • Build and maintain relationships with procurement, other departments, companies and their representatives and act as a point of contact.
  • Be acutely aware of budgetary resources available and work within the financial envelope.
