Tree Officer
Come and make a difference at Karbon as a Tree Officer. We’re looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join our Grounds Maintenance team.
About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Tree Officer to join our Grounds Maintenance team within Property Services. You will carry out tree inspections, manage works programmes, oversee contractors, and contribute to the ongoing development of our tree management strategy, helping us maintain safe, sustainable, and thriving green spaces.
Qualifications
- Level 4 qualification in Arboriculture (or equivalent)
- LANTRA Professional Tree Inspection (PTI) (or equivalent)
- Proven experience managing tree assets and undertaking inspections, surveys, and risk assessments
- Strong understanding of arboriculture best practice, legislation, and standards (including BS3998 & BS5837)
- Experience using tree management systems and GIS‑based platforms
- Ability to manage contractors and monitor performance against KPIs
- Experience responding to customer enquiries and working with stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical matters clearly
- A proactive, resilient approach with strong decision‑making skills
- Dynamic, collaborative, engaging, strong customer service, people management, and organisational skills; highly organised, capable of working to tight deadlines, achieving KPIs and targets within budget constraints
- A full UK driving licence is essential
Key Details
- Position: Tree Officer
- Salary: £32,500 per annum
- Flexible pot: £657 flexible pot (which can be used for salary top‑up)
- Location: Based in Derwentside working across the Karbon footprint
- Hours: 37 hours per week – 0700‑1500 Monday‑Thursday, 0700‑1430 Friday
- Car: Karbon car payment of £2,405 per annum (own car to be used)
