Job Description:

We are looking for a Trials Officer to join our team in Wetherby

This is a full-time, permanent position with a Monday to Friday shift pattern, plus overtime available during the peak farming season.

Who are we?

Envirofield is an expert independent contract field trials company, specialising in agricultural and environmental research across the UK. We are one of the UK’s leading soil sampling companies, offering Soil Mineral Nitrogen (SMN) sampling nationwide alongside a range of other agricultural services.

The Role:

Reporting directly to the on-site Trials Manager, you will be involved in all aspects of carrying out field trials – from site selection and product preparation to drilling and harvesting.

Your duties will include:

  • Data collection, including trial assessments such as plant counts and weed, pest, and disease identification.
  • Harvesting trials using specialist plot combines, including sample collection and processing.
  • Soil sampling, predominantly for SMN testing.
  • Preparing and applying agrochemicals and fertilisers, including creating weigh sheets, calibrating equipment, and following all safety and PPE requirements.
  • Maintaining vehicles, machinery, and equipment, ensuring they are clean, serviced, and fit for purpose.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in field trials is an advantage but not essential.
  • A background in agriculture or farming, or a good understanding of the industry, is desirable.
  • If you do not have direct farming or trials experience, you must have experience working in a practical, outdoor role.
  • Willingness to work towards an HGV licence (fully funded) is preferred, but not essential.
  • Experience using agricultural or related machinery is beneficial, but full training will be provided.
  • A valid driving licence is essential, as occasional travel to other sites may be required.

This is an excellent opportunity to work for a progressive, industry-leading company, renowned for its commitment to staff development and wellbeing.

You’ll be part of a skilled and supportive team, working in a varied and rewarding role with plenty of scope to learn and grow.
