Job Description:

Global Sourcing Manager (Electronics)

Location: Swansea (Hybrid – 2 days per month in office)

Salary: Up to c.£78k base + 10% Bonus

Full time: 6-Month Fixed Term Contract (Strong potential to become permanent)

Target Start Date: July 15th, 2026

We are looking for a Global Sourcing Manager to take charge of buying electronics for a growing, innovation led company. In this senior role, you will manage a £50 million budget, which represents about two-thirds of the company’s total spending. You will have the unique opportunity to modernise the department and reshape how the business handles its global purchasing. This is a vital position that requires an independent self‑starter who stays calm under time and cost pressure while managing supplier relationships across the world.

The Role

  • Lead the strategic sourcing of electronic components, including supplier selection, commercial terms, price negotiation, and supply framework setup.
  • Act as the key interface between global suppliers and internal R&D/Supply Chain teams to support New Product Introduction (NPI) and early supplier involvement.
  • Work closely with a shared procurement engineer in China to ensure seamless communication and execution across the Asian supply base.
  • Deliver against ambitious annual cost‑saving targets and ensure NPI timelines are met despite global component shortages and inflationary pressures.
  • Manage and influence the supplier network through 3-4 international trips per year (roughly 10‑14 days each) to China, Indonesia, and broader Asia.

Skills we are looking for

Essential

  • 7‑10 years of experience in an independent buying/sourcing role, specifically focused on Bill of Materials and electronic/technical components.
  • A proven track record of delivering cost savings and managing complex negotiations in regulated or quality‑controlled manufacturing environments.
  • Hands‑on experience managing supplier allocations, component shortages, and volatile pricing environments.
  • Natural ability to build networks and influence stakeholders across R&D, Engineering, and external global partners.

Desirable

  • An established network within the electronics component buying market in China or Southeast Asia.
  • Background in consumer electronics (e.g., Dyson, Philips, Miele), automotive, or medical devices.
  • An engineering degree or a strong technical affinity for electronics and optics, potentially paired with a commercial qualification/MBA.

*This role is initially a 6-month contract to allow the business flexibility while the final scope is refined, but it is being recruited with a long‑term vision. For the right candidate, this is a clear route to a permanent, high‑influence position in a business that values energy, enthusiasm, and momentum.

To be considered for the higher end of the salary bracket, you will be an experienced commercial leader with a track record of successfully managing large budgets and saving money in fast‑paced, growing businesses.

We are more than happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments that you may require.
