Essential Criteria
- MB ChB or equivalent
- FRCA or equivalent
- Full GMC registration
- Have CCT in Anaesthesia or be expected to attain such within 6 months of interview date, or be included on the Specialist register.
- You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
Desirable Criteria
- Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine (FFPMRCA), Advanced Pain medicine training (or equivalent).
- High standard of clinical skills and expertise in anaesthesia.
- Experience in the perioperative management of high-risk patients undergoing complex surgery.
- Interest and experience in critical care medicine.
- Clinical experience and knowledge (equivalent to higher training) in orthopaedics.
- Clinical experience and knowledge (equivalent to higher training) in trauma.
- Clinical experience and knowledge (equivalent to higher training) in general, urological and gynaecological surgery.
- Clinical experience and knowledge (equivalent to higher training) in vascular surgery.
- Clinical experience and knowledge (equivalent to higher training) in transfer medicine.
- Clinical experience and knowledge (equivalent to higher training) in non-theatre anaesthesia.
- ALS training.
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary pain team.
- ATLS training or equivalent.
- Expertise in difficult airway management (e.g. advanced training in airway management).
- Interest and training in echocardiography (TOE and/or TTE).
- Expertise in ultrasound‑guided regional anaesthesia for upper and lower limb surgery, e.g. advanced training (or equivalent) in general, urological and gynaecological surgery.
- Advanced training (or equivalent) in vascular anaesthesia.
- Expertise in ultrasound‑guided regional anaesthesia and fluoroscopic guide procedures for pain management.
- Evidence of participation in individual and group psychological work in pain medicine; evidence of participation in bedside and classroom teaching.
- Evidence of achieving GMC standards to be recognised as a Clinical Supervisor.
- Experience of teaching non‑medical professionals.
- Evidence of achieving GMC standards to be recognised as an Educational Supervisor.
- Educational qualification; ability to offer expert clinical opinion on anaesthetic problems for planned procedures and emergencies.

- Experience of supervising core trainees and registrars, with feedback; evidence of involvement in the management of an anaesthetic department.

Applications are invited for the above post at a large University teaching hospitals Trust in Liverpool. The applicant will join an anaesthetic department providing services at the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen Hospitals.
The pain medicine service provides inpatient services across hospital sites and local hospices, and outpatient services at Broadgreen Hospital within a new purpose‑built pain medicine unit. The pain medicine unit contains outpatient facilities and a dedicated theatre suite and recovery for pain management procedures.
