Senior Solicitor – Civil & Commercial Litigation

Senior Solicitor – Civil & Commercial Litigation (Debt Recovery) 5+ PQE | Leeds | Salary £55,000 + (DOE)

We are looking for an experienced Civil or Commercial Litigation Solicitor (5+ years’ PQE) with strong debt recovery experience and proven leadership capability.

What You’ll Be Doing

You will manage a complex and varied caseload of civil and commercial litigation matters, with a particular focus on debt recovery and contractual disputes. Your responsibilities include:

  • Managing claims across the Small Claims, Fast Track and Multi Track, ensuring full compliance with the Civil Procedure Rules
  • Conducting detailed case assessments and advising clients on strategy, risk and likely outcomes
  • Handling a broad range of matters, including:
    • Complex debt recovery litigation
    • Commercial and B2B contractual disputes
    • Enforcement proceedings and post‑judgment recovery strategies
    • Rent recovery and statutory based claims
  • Drafting high‑quality legal documentation, including statements of case, applications, witness statements and technical correspondence
  • Acting as a senior point of escalation on more complex or high‑risk matters
  • Working collaboratively with other Senior Solicitors to support workflow, quality standards and team performance
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline processes, enhance efficiency and improve litigation outcomes
  • Building strong, trusted client relationships through clear, commercially focused advice and regular communication
  • Supervising, mentoring and supporting junior solicitors, paralegals and litigation support staff

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a confident, technically strong litigator who can add value from day one and is motivated by progression and leadership responsibility. You will demonstrate:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ PQE with solid experience in civil litigation, ideally in debt recovery or commercial disputes
  • Strong working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules, with experience managing cases across all tracks
  • The ability to manage a high volume caseload while maintaining excellent standards of quality and attention to detail
  • Strong commercial awareness and a pragmatic, solution‑focused approach to litigation
  • Experience of supervising, mentoring or supporting junior team members
  • A collaborative, resilient and proactive approach, with confidence to operate as part of a senior leadership layer within the team

Working Arrangements & Salary

  • Full‑time, office‑based role in Leeds
  • 35 hours per week (typically 9:00 am – 4:30 pm, with flexibility considered)
  • Salary from £55,000+, dependent on experience and expertise
  • Annual salary reviews and clearly defined progression pathways
