Your role
- Lead the design, assessment, and maintenance of structural and railway civil engineering projects, providing input on multidisciplinary projects.
- Collaborate with national and international design teams to create sustainable and high‑quality civil and structural designs for new builds, renewals, maintenance, and assessments.
- Manage production and review of design documentation, including sketches, drawings, calculations, reports, and specifications.
- Carry out technical work independently and provide guidance to junior staff.
- Develop and agree project scopes, manage internal technical supply chain, budgets, programme, and quality deliverables.
- Apply analytical skills and engineering judgement to evaluate solutions and recommend the most suitable option.
- Lead bids and tenders, secure work, and develop client relationships.
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional qualification (CEng/IEng) and membership of ICE or IStructE.
- Experience as a CRE, Deputy CRE, Workpackage Manager, or Deputy Engineering Manager for railway civil engineering works or station projects.
- Experience with key clients such as Network Rail, HS2, local authorities, major contractors, or developers.
- Strong understanding of Eurocodes, DMRB, MCHW, and Network Rail standards.
- Practical knowledge of railway civil engineering or station design.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues across independent disciplines.
- Project management skills, commercial awareness, financial control, and ability to deliver across a range of contract types, including managing specialist suppliers, independent checkers and local authorities.
Additional Information – Security Clearance
This role may require security clearance. Offers of employment will depend on obtaining the relevant level of clearance and may require proof of UK residency of 5 years or longer.
