Young Person River Protection – Project Management, Work Experience Placement – Derby, 13th-16th July 2026

Date: Monday 13th – Thursday 16th July (4 days)
Who it’s for: Young people aged 14-18 who are interested in gaining hands‑on experience of the world of work and exploring future career opportunities. This placement is ideal for those who are curious, willing to learn, and keen to build confidence in a professional environment.
In this placement, you’ll join our River Protection team and work alongside scientists, analysts, project teams and the Key Lead for the PIRP (Pollution Incident Reduction Plan) programme to help protect the environment. Your responsibilities will include mapping out roles using a simple RACI tool, capturing team tasks and timelines, setting up a clear and organised SharePoint space for important information, and helping create a short guide to make it easier for others to use. You will also collaborate with a range of stakeholders across the business to support an improvement process that will make the programme run more smoothly and effectively.
