Commercial Gas & Plant Engineer

Location: London & South East

Salary: Up to £49,000 pa + bonus + company vehicle + excellent benefits

Contract Type: Permanent

Vector Recruitment Solutions are working with a fast‑growing business within the Heat Networks sector, who are looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Gas & Plant Engineer to support the maintenance and operation of commercial energy centres and district heating systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a Commercial Gas Engineer or Plant Room Engineer looking for a varied role involving PPMs, reactive repairs, fault finding and project work across large‑scale commercial plant rooms.

The Role

  • Planned and reactive maintenance on commercial plant equipment
  • Fault finding and repair work on pumps, valves, heat exchangers, pressurisation units and pipework
  • Attending reactive call‑outs to restore heating and resolve plant failures
  • Supporting plant improvement and remediation projects
  • Completing maintenance reports and records
  • Participating in an on‑call rota (1 week in 4)

Requirements

  • Experience working within commercial plant rooms or mechanical plant environments
  • Strong knowledge of commercial boilers and mechanical plant systems
  • Experience working on pumps, valves and associated equipment
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Gas, Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and schematics
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience within district heating or heat networks would be advantageous but is not essential
