Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

£50,000 – £60,000 DOE
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a highly respected engineering company specialising in advanced engineered systems and bespoke technical solutions supplied to customers worldwide.
This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically biased engineer with strong hydraulics and pneumatics experience who enjoys technically challenging projects and full lifecycle engineering involvement.
The Role
You will be responsible for the design and delivery of complex mechanical system elements, supporting projects from concept through to manufacturing, testing, and final delivery.
The role will involve:
Mechanical design of assemblies and system componentsHydraulic and pneumatic system designProducing GA drawings, detailed manufacturing drawings, and BOMsSupporting design reviews and continuous improvement activitiesWorking closely with manufacturing, testing, suppliers, and project teamsSupporting compliance with CE/UKCA and engineering standardsManaging technical documentation and engineering deliverablesThere is also the opportunity to take ownership of projects as a Lead Engineer, coordinating timelines, technical stakeholders, and project delivery activities.
Requirements
HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experienceStrong experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systemsMechanical design experience within special purpose machinery, industrial equipment, or precision engineering environmentsProficiency with 3D CAD software (ideally SolidWorks)Experience producing manufacturing drawings to BS 8888 standardsUnderstanding of GD&T and tolerance analysisGood knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processesStrong communication and problem-solving skills
Desirable
Practical engineering or hands-on mechanical experienceExperience with fabrication, pipework, or heavy machineryWillingness to travel internationally when required
