CNC Milling Team Leader Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and driven CNC Milling Team Leader to manage the daily performance of the milling division. This hands‑on position plays a key role in delivering production goals, maintaining exceptional quality standards, promoting a safe working environment, and driving team success within a busy engineering setting. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader who motivates and supports their team, while continuously improving efficiency, machining standards, and overall operational performance. You may already be a CNC Milling Team Leader, or a strong CNC Miller, who is looking for that next step into supervisor team leading.
Pay and Hours
- £40,950
- Only a 4‑day working week, Monday – Thursday
- 37.5 hours, days only with flexible start and finish times
- Friday is available for overtime, but this is optional
Commutable from: Nottingham, Derby, Leicester, Grantham, Loughborough.
CNC Milling Team Leader Candidate Requirements
- Proven background within CNC milling and precision engineering
- Confident leading and motivating teams in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
- Strong ability to read engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances
- Skilled in setting and operating CNC milling machines efficiently
- Solid understanding of tooling, machining methods, feeds, and speeds
- Excellent communication skills with a proactive, solutions‑focused mindset
- Committed to maintaining high standards in quality, safety, and continuous improvement
Desirable Experience
- Confident operating Fanuc, Heidenhain, or Siemens control systems
- Background in engineering through apprenticeship or formal qualification
- Experience in precision engineering or heavy manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices
CNC Milling Team Leader Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)
- Lead and support the milling team on a day-to-day basis, setting clear direction and expectations
- Plan workloads and prioritise jobs to ensure production schedules are consistently met
- Operate, set, and programme CNC milling machines when required to support output
- Ensure all components meet strict engineering drawings and quality standards
- Monitor performance metrics including productivity, scrap, downtime, and efficiency
- Drive health & safety compliance and maintain excellent housekeeping across the area
- Support training, development, and performance of team members, including apprentices and new starters
