Overview
Merton College is looking for a Finance Officer to join a busy Accounts Receivable and Credit Control team. The role involves chasing outstanding debt, processing transactions and maintaining the Sales Ledger database in line with the Group’s financial procedures and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate sales invoices from invoice requisitions and ensure the sales ledger is updated with all cash receipts.
- Receive and process cash, credit card and cheque payments for banking according to Finance operating procedures.
- Operate the petty cash till for payment claims when required.
- Liaise with budget holders and internal teams to resolve queries raised by customers and students.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven experience in credit control processes.
- Strong background in dealing directly with customers and handling a wide range of customer queries.
- Working experience in a fast‑paced environment, managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Knowledge of banking and petty‑cash procedures.
Skills and Attributes
- Excellent attention to detail, organisational and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Proficiency in Adobe, Excel, Outlook, Word and accounting software.
- Ability to work accurately, calmly and efficiently.
