About the roleAs Clinical Governance Lead, you will act as the chief guardian of clinical safety and risk within our UK operations and products. You will hold an independent, senior clinical leadership role, shaping and overseeing governance across clinical safety, assurance, incident management, and regulatory compliance. You will act as the Registered Manager for our CQC-registered services, ensuring that all clinical, digital, and operational risks are proactively managed and mitigated. You will partner closely with clinical, regulatory, engineering, product, commercial, and operations teams to design and maintain robust safety systems, standards, and processes, ensuring that patient safety is never compromised.
What you’ll be doingClinical Governance and Quality Management
- Lead the development, implementation, review and continuous improvement of clinical governance frameworks across the UK organisation.
- Own and manage the UK Risk Register, clinical hazard log, safety case reports, critical incident registers, and regulatory notifications.
- Oversee the UK Clinical Governance Committee – including preparation, reporting and escalation to the Global Clinical Governance Committee.
- Collaborate with the Medical Leadership Team to maintain and update clinical policies, SOPs, and audit standards.
- Provide expert clinical safety input at all phases of system/product lifecycle (design, validation, deployment, maintenance).
- Undertake safety impact assessments, independent reviews, and clinical risk reviews.
- Provide oversight of change management processes from a clinical safety lens.
Governance, Assurance & Oversight
- Coordinate appropriate clinical audit coverage and systematic reviews of care quality, safety, and prescribing practices.
- Ensure that clinical insights are translated into actionable performance management and service optimisation.
- Develop and deliver internal education, training, and awareness on clinical safety, governance, and regulation.
- Define and monitor benchmarks, KPIs, and quality standards.
- Ensure alignment of policies, SOPs, and escalation pathways with broader regulatory frameworks.
Regulatory Compliance and CQC Responsibilities
- Act as the Registered Manager for our CQC-registered service, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations.
- Lead CQC inspection readiness and MHRA compliance, ensuring documentation and systems are auditable.
- Work closely with the Superintendent Pharmacist to ensure readiness with GPhC inspections.
- Monitor, investigate, and provide leadership for clinical safety incidents and lead root cause analyses (PSII).
Leadership & Collaboration
- Act as a thought leader and trusted advisor on safety matters to the senior leadership team.
- Influence decision-making, embed a safety culture, and advocate for risk-aware innovation.
- Mentor, coach, and if required develop a local safety / clinical governance team.
- Represent the organisation externally on clinical safety matters and maintain awareness of national standards.
About YouQualifications & Professional Registration
- Fully registered clinician (e.g. nurse, doctor, or allied health professional) with current registration (NMC, GMC, HCPC).
- Significant senior experience in clinical governance, patient safety, risk management, or clinical leadership.
- Prior experience as a Registered Manager, Nominated Individual, or Clinical Safety Officer in a CQC-registered environment.
- Demonstrated experience working with or applying DCB0129 / DCB0160 standards is desirable.
Experience & Skills
- Proven track record in senior clinical safety roles with hands-on exposure to CQC compliance and inspection processes.
- Deep expertise in clinical risk management methodologies, hazard analysis, and root cause analysis.
- Ability to translate regulation and clinical reasoning into operational systems and practices.
- Exceptional communication skills: able to interact credibly with clinical, technical, and executive stakeholders.
