Technical Group Engineering Manager – Cloud Security Platform Hybrid Role- 3 days in Belfast office required – Distributed Systems – Northern Ireland We’re proud to be working exclusively with a high-growth cloud security company that established its Northern Ireland engineering hub less than two years ago. Since launching locally, the team has grown rapidly and is now entering a major scale-up phase following significant investment earlier this year. As part of ambitious growth plans through 2026 and beyond, we’re hiring a Group Engineering Manager to lead multiple backend and infrastructure engineering teams working on the core cloud security platform. This is a rare opportunity to take on a senior technical leadership role in a fast-scaling global engineering organisation, while helping shape the future of a strategically important Belfast engineering hub. The Opportunity In this role, you’ll lead teams solving technically complex, real-world problems every day building innovative new capabilities while continuously improving and scaling existing systems. You’ll work closely with engineering leadership, product teams, and platform specialists to deliver high-scale distributed systems operating across AWS, GCP, and Azure. The organisation operates in a modern, cloud-native environment and encourages strong engineering ownership. Teams are responsible for systems end-to-end from architecture and development through to deployment, observability, and ongoing optimisation in production. The platform integrates deeply with the major cloud providers and leverages technologies such as: Golang Java Kubernetes Docker eBPF Large-scale distributed systems This is not a traditional management role it’s a hands-on technical leadership position, where you’ll guide engineering teams solving meaningful problems that directly impact global customers. The Role As Group Engineering Manager, you will: Lead and grow multiple backend and infrastructure engineering teams Help define and deliver the technical roadmap for key platform services Support engineers and engineering managers through mentoring, coaching, and career development Drive architectural decisions across distributed systems and cloud infrastructure Ensure high engineering standards around reliability, performance, and scalability Partner closely with product and platform teams to deliver high-impact features Support incident response, operational excellence, and service reliability Help scale the engineering organisation while maintaining a strong technical culture You will play a key role in building systems that operate in highly dynamic, large-scale production environments. Unlike traditional security tooling, the platform uses runtime data and low-level system instrumentation to identify real threats, prioritise risks, and automate responses across complex cloud environments. Technology Environment You’ll be working with a genuinely modern stack including: Cloud: AWS, GCP, Azure Languages: Golang, Java, Python Platform: Kubernetes, Docker, eBPF Data & Messaging: Neo4j, Elasticsearch, Redis, TimescaleDB, RabbitMQ Architecture: Microservices, distributed systems What We’re Looking For Proven experience leading engineering teams or engineering managers Strong background in backend engineering, distributed systems, or cloud infrastructure Experience building or scaling systems in cloud-native environments Strong programming background (Golang, Java, Python, or similar) Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure Experience operating large-scale production systems Strong technical leadership and mentoring ability Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on technical guidance Nice to have: Experience working on cloud security platforms Strong Linux systems knowledge Experience with observability, reliability engineering, or performance optimisation Experience scaling engineering teams during rapid growth What It’s Like to Work Here This is a high-trust, collaborative engineering culture.
