Senior/Principal Ecologist
RSK Biocensus, part of the RSK Group, is recruiting a Senior Ecologist to join our growing UK ecology team. The role involves delivery of field surveys, assessment, tender and report writing, project management, site work oversight, and practical habitat management or creation under supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee medium/large projects and tenders from commencement to completion and close‑out.
- Promote RSK positively to clients and competitors; display commitment to high‑quality work.
- Manage medium‑sized projects, including finance, resource allocation, sub‑contractor coordination, risk and quality assurance; ensure timely delivery and effective communication; respond to client feedback.
- Conduct fieldwork, including out‑of‑hours surveys, travel as required, and working away from home.
- Assist with delivery of survey and research reports, including document reviews, statistical analyses, licence applications, and reporting.
Person Specification
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, strong attention to detail, manage a varied workload under pressure. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear, concise reports. Leadership skills and ability to work on individual and team projects.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or relevant qualification in Ecology or related subject.
- At least 5 years of specific relevant experience in a similar role.
- Species‑specific personal licences desirable.
- Associate membership with CIEEM.
- Abide by CIEEM’s Code of Professional Conduct.
A full UK driving licence and use of own vehicle is required.
Salary and Benefits
Competitive salary of £33,500–£56,000 (DOE).
