Lead Software Engineer (Golang) – Real Time Data Platform

This is a hands-on Lead role focused on designing and building distributed backend systems that ingest, process and serve high-throughput data, for a well established FinTech.

The platform is already live, but there’s a clear need to evolve parts of the architecture to improve scalability, performance and reliability. This is where the role comes in.

The Role

You’ll join a small, experienced engineering group and take ownership of critical backend services, with a particular focus on Golang.

You’ll work on:

• Processing and distributing high volumes of real-time data
• Designing scalable, resilient distributed systems
• Improving performance and reducing latency across services
• Evolving existing architecture toward more efficient patterns

What They’re Looking For

• Strong experience building backend systems in Golang
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures
• Experience working with high-throughput / low-latency systems
• Comfortable owning services end-to-end, from design through to production
• Ability to identify problems in existing systems and drive improvements

Tech Environment

• Legacy backend stack is mainly in Node, which they are transitioning to Go
• Event-driven architecture, messaging systems and cloud-based infrastructure, currently migrating to GCP
• A pragmatic engineering culture focused on delivery and ownership

Additional Info

• This is an in-office role (London)
• You’ll be working closely with senior engineers and leadership on critical platform components
