Head of Mathematics

We are working in partnership with a large, well-established secondary school with a thriving sixth form in Essex to recruit an ambitious and inspiring Head of Mathematics on a permanent basis from September 2026.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Maths teacher or current middle leader ready to step up, within a supportive and forward-thinking school environment offering clear progression.

The Role

As Head of Mathematics, you will:

• Lead and develop a high-performing Maths department
• Drive standards of teaching, learning, and outcomes from KS3 to KS5
• Support staff through coaching, mentoring, and CPD
• Contribute to whole-school improvement strategy
• Deliver a broad, engaging, and ambitious curriculum

The Ideal Candidate

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Strong track record of raising attainment in Maths
• Leadership experience (or ready for first HoD role)
• Passionate about teaching and learning
• Clear ambition to progress within leadership
