Working Arrangements

  • Part‑time or flexible working, including job share, although the role is advertised as full‑time.
  • 4‑day working weeks and work patterns aligned with school hours are available.
  • Hybrid model with two in‑office days per week (currently Tuesdays and Thursdays); pro‑rata options for part‑time roles. In‑person attendance is limited until January 2027 with hot desking on other days.

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a lawyer to join the in‑house Legal and Compliance team at the University of Warwick. You will be a key part of a busy in‑house team, managing a diverse portfolio that includes contract and data protection matters with a wide‑ranging value and risk profile, while also supporting broader in‑house activity and cross‑institutional projects.

You will develop a detailed understanding of the legal and regulatory framework governing the education sector and support a single client. The role allows you to build trusted relationships with Academic and Professional Services colleagues from across the institution and develop a thorough understanding of the institution’s culture, priorities and approach to risk.

In turn, you will deliver strategic legal advice and support effective decision‑making, free from the demands of time recording, billing targets and traditional business development. You will have the opportunity to work with a friendly, supportive and collaborative team that recognises and celebrates each other’s personal and professional achievements.

Qualifications

About You

A sound knowledge of contracts law, data protection and strong negotiating and drafting skills are essential.

This is the ideal opportunity for a solicitor with PQE who is looking to work in‑house.
