Chromatography Product Applications Specialist
Location: Crowborough, East Sussex (Hybrid – minimum three days per week onsite)
Salary: £70,000 to £100,000 basic annually plus benefits.
Travel: 10% to 15% global travel. Relocation support can be offered where appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Develop and validate new gas chromatographic methods for process applications.
- Extend measurement ranges and background gas capability across the analyser portfolio.
- Provide expert application support to R&D, Sales, Service and customers.
- Design and execute experimental test regimes and validation studies.
- Support new product development through feasibility studies and performance characterisation.
- Investigate and resolve complex application and performance challenges.
- Produce high‑quality technical documentation, application notes and reports.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to align products with customer and market needs.
- Work in line with company policies, procedures and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in process gas chromatography.
- Strong understanding of GC detectors, column and trap technologies.
- Demonstrable expertise in method development, validation and optimisation.
- Experience working with different background gases and complex matrices.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem‑solving and data interpretation skills.
- Experience working within Engineering, R&D or Applications environments.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Confident user of Microsoft Office tools.
Desirable Experience
- Experience with process analysers and on‑line GC systems.
- Knowledge of industrial gas applications and standards.
- Experience supporting customers or field‑based application issues.
- Strong capability in technical reporting and data analysis.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
- Exposure to Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement approaches.
- Experience facilitating Lean or Six Sigma initiatives.
Education & Certifications
- Essential: BSc (or higher) in Chemistry, Analytical Science, Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
- Desirable: MSc or PhD in a relevant discipline; Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt (or equivalent).
