ICT Senior Networking & Security Engineer

Responsibilities
- Oversee execution of analytics, investigations, resolution, and reporting for network and cyber security matters.
- Manage day‑to‑day operations of the Trust’s wired and wireless network, troubleshooting issues and outages.
- Supervise and run the Cyber Security Operations Centre.
- Escalation point for the team and ICT management to support delivery of departmental and Trust objectives.
- Provide high‑level support to Networking and Security Engineers.
- Deal with and resolve network and cyber security incidents in a timely manner.
- Ensure changes to data and telephony networks and cyber security tools do not impact service.
- Evaluate and test network and security tools.
- Understand organisational ICT demands to deliver clinical care and satisfy corporate needs.
- Manage incoming work for others, distributing tasks with priorities, ensuring service standards and deadlines.
- Maintain systems, policy and procedures covering data protection, loss/theft, intrusion detection/prevention, and security threats.
- Act as technical lead and escalation point for governance, security or legislative requirements for the IT estate.
- Design, implement, perform and conduct internal and external vulnerability scans.
Qualifications
- Relevant professional qualifications, formal training up to Master’s degree level and/or similar experience in Networking and Security.
- Professional information security qualifications (e.g., Information Security Principles, CompTIA Security+). ITIL Foundation and CCNA.
- Previous ICT endpoint support or equivalent experience in a Cyber Security Operations Centre, working to ISO27001.
- Excellent technical knowledge of hardware endpoint security, software hardening, malware mitigation, and vulnerability management.
- Proven experience managing a small team in a busy Cyber Security Operations Centre.
- Strong communication skills, able to translate technical topics into business language.
- Deep understanding of network protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, SQL, TCP/IP, Active Directory) and security monitoring.
- Experience with CISCO networks, threats, vulnerabilities and security tools (SIEM, Netflow, IDS/IPS, vulnerability management, advanced malware detection, antivirus).

- Practical knowledge of Windows, macOS, mobile devices, and CISCO equipment.
- Capacity to share knowledge within the ICT team.
- Ability to reprioritise work streams and manage staff and customer expectations.
- Proficiency in re‑configuring CISCO equipment to implement security.
