About this job
The Information Governance (IG) team has a vacancy for a full time Information Governance Officer (IGO) for a fixed period of two years.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join an experienced team.
This is a key role within the IG team that supports the Head of Data Protection (also the DPO) and the comprehensive information governance agenda trust-wide.
The role of an IG Officer is to primarily support the Trust’s IG management requirements and facilitate the Trust’s compliance with them.
In particular, act as a source of data protection advice and guidance within the Trust, disseminating and reinforcing good governance and security practice to all staff and providing consultancy support to projects, advising on all matters relating to Information Governance, delivering training and conducting audits.
You will also support the management of Freedom of Information requests.
The post holder will provide advice to the organisation and support compliance and conformance with all relevant standards and legislation, including the Data Protection Act (2018), General Data Protection Regulations 2016 (GDPR). The IG Officer will contribute to the effective implementation of IG management and controls relating to national monitoring frameworks, in particular, the annual Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT), CQC standards, National Data Guardian Standards, Caldicott Principles and NHS Codes of Practice.
The list of duties and responsibilities presented here is not exhaustive, nor is it intended to be exclusive; it should be used as a guideline representing the typical responsibilities of the role.
In the natural day-to-day operations of the Information Governance service specific responsibilities and duties of the post-holder within the role may change to meet the developing requirements of the Trust.
Any such changes will be discussed with the post-holder and manager, but the post-holder is expected to deliver on any reasonable requirement.
The overall aim of the role: As a key member of the Information Governance team the post holder will assist in developing and implementing information governance arrangements within the Trust, to support compliance with current legislation, industry standards and Department of Health directives on personal information handling.
